The Barns at Redcoats has got to be one of my favourite local venues and I was delighted to be back there for Ruby and Idris’ wedding in October last year. It’s always a joy to see how each couple has chosen to decorate the beautiful barn so I arrived a little earlier than planned so I could sneak a little peek on my way up to see Ruby. They had opted for colourful ribbon tied to the chairs and gorgeous bright florals which looked stunning! I spent the morning mainly with a very relaxed Ruby, popping down to see the boys when they arrived to capture (and assist!) with buttonholes before heading back up to see Ruby get into her dress. Ruby’s gorgeous dress was her Mum’s wedding dress – made by her Granny! I just love special touches like that on a wedding day. After a beautiful ceremony we threw a LOT of confetti and then everybody got to relax and drink blinis with fresh peach puree and enjoy some yummy canapes. Despite being October it was definitely outdoor drinks reception weather (the best kind of weather). We were keen to get any formal group shots done quickly and some fun ones too with friends. The Barns at Redcoats is ideal for this as nobody is very far away when you need them for a photo. I took Ruby and Idris over to the gardens behind the Farmhouse for their couple portraits, its a little bit more private and the gardens are really nice. There was still the remnants of a wildflower patch they had planted earlier in the year so we made use of that as well as the obligatory tractor shot in the courtyard… We gathered everybody for a big group photo before heading into the barn for speeches and food. I usually like to split couple portraits in two so after dinner we had a little walk up the road, chasing a totally hidden sunset but we did still get some nice shots! Ruby and Idris had decided to surprise their guests with a ceilidh in the evening which was brilliant for getting everybody on the dance floor but less good for my toes as I obviously insisted on being right in the middle of it all. A perfect colourful, relaxed wedding day.
Barns at Redcoats Wedding

Jane was so relaxed on the day, blended in and took the most amazing pictures. In the lead up to the day I was really nervous about the possibility of rain and it was Jane’s calm advice and talk with me that more than anything helped me to relax about the whole thing.
