Laura + Nick | Summer Barn Wedding at Barns Hotel, Bedford | Bedfordshire Wedding Photography

Laura and Nick were married at the Barns Hotel in Bedford at the end of July last year. The Barns hotel is in such a great location by the river and the sun shone for most of the day so guests were able to make the most of the lovely views . We made sure we got all the formal family shots for Laura’s Nan, I’ll be surprised if she has any room left on her walls for pictures as she requested so many copies of them all as we went! It was a gorgeous, family-centred day; such a pleasure to be part of!

The Prutton Family | Autumn Family Shoot in Ampthill Park | Bedfordshire Family Photography

Autumn is pretty much my favourite time of year for outdoor shoots…beautiful colours, gorgeous light and not too hot or cold. It also lasts for quite a while with the trees all changing at different times, so it really is a great time of year to schedule in a shoot! I met up with the Prutton family in Ampthill Park last November for their family session. We had a little walk around the park (which was looking stunning!) climbing trees and throwing leaves as we went. Here’s a little peek at their session!

Katy + Mark | Linslade Woods Engagement Shoot | Bedfordshire Wedding Photography

I met up with Mark and Katy at their home in Leighton Buzzard at the end of November last year. They are getting married next month so we thought the gorgeous autumn colours would be a nice contrast to the bright spring palette of their wedding day. We had only spoken on the phone before so it was lovely to finally meet in person and we chatted for a while before we took a walk to Linslade Woods for their pre-wedding shoot. If they were nervous, you couldn’t tell as they seemed totally natural and relaxed in front of the camera! It didn’t take long for us to have some gorgeous shots of them together. Now its countdown to wedding time and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding day!

Lots of my couples worry about their engagement photos. They book me because they love my candid approach to weddings and quite often don’t like having their photographs taken so it seems daunting to head out just the two of you and me and my camera! I totally understand, I feel awkward having my photo taken too! It would seriously recommend braving it and not skipping your complimentary engagement shoot. Firstly, its a great opportunity for us to get to know each other a little before the big day. It might have been a while since we last saw each other or maybe the first time we will get a chance to meet. If you are nervous about having your photo taken it makes sense to try it out before your wedding so that on the day you don’t have to worry at all. We can also work out what sort of things work for you both so that by the time you do your couple portraits on the day we can get some lovely natural shots really quickly which leaves you with more time to enjoy the day!

The Williams Family | Newborn Lifestyle | Bedfordshire Newborn Photography

I first met the Williams family when they joined me for a bluebell shoot last year and it was so lovely to see them again and meet their gorgeous new addition to the family. It really does mean so much to me to see families again and again and to capture them as they grow. This session was very relaxed; tea, catching up and lots of laughter! Nothing too staged or intrusive which is the last thing you want when you have two small children. Thanks so much for having me Williams’, hope to see you again soon!

Laura + Adam | Emotional Summer wedding at Chartridge Lodge | Buckinghamshire Wedding Photography

Laura and Adam were married on a beautiful summer’s day in July last year at Chartridge Lodge in Buckinghamshire. It was an emotional one, with many a happy tear being shed and many a tissue required! I’ve put together a slideshow which I think sums up their day quite well; laughter, tears and lots of love!

Jane I can’t thank you enough for capturing our whole day so beautifully. My heart grows every time I look at our wedding photos remembering it like it was yesterday. You blended in and made the whole process so simple and relaxing. Having your photo taken all day is not the most relaxing thing but Jane definitely made it so easy. From our engagement shoot to our wedding day the whole process was seamless and she put us at ease straight away. All of your little touches show how lovely you are and how much you want to please your clients. I have recommended you to everyone I know and will carry on doing so (I know a few who have a booked already!) thank you again and we definitely hope to use you again, maybe even for a family shoot one day!

Rachael + John | Rustic Scottish Wedding at Dunglass Estate, East Lothian | Scottish Wedding Photography

After a week of snow blizzards and cold weather, I was relieved to make the journey to Dunglass Estate with the sun shining and not a snowflake in sight.  The venue  was looking beautifully spring like, surrounded by daffodils with baby lambs running and jumping in the field beside.  I made my way over to the house where Rachael and her mum and sisters were getting ready.  Everybody was so relaxed and calm; Rachael’s three sisters, her  bridesmaids, were totally on top of any jobs that needed doing so Rachael was able to focus on getting  ready and enjoy the morning.  I popped over to the church and marquee to see them all set up and take a few shots and when I got back the girls were just getting the finishing touches to their hair and make up ahead of the most exciting part of bridal preparations -  dress time!  The bridesmaids buzzed around Rachael, each with a job to do, and she was into her dress and looking incredible in no time. After a few family photos, I left them so I could  join the boys who were greeting the guests.  Staff were handing out hot water bottles to everyone and cosy blankets lay on the chairs in the church - it might be have been spring but it is Scotland after all! It didn’t take long before the atmospheric little church was full of excited family and friends and  John made his way to the front with his groomsmen, to await his bride.  The sound of bagpipes in the distance soon let us know she was on her way.  The ceremony was beautiful and personal and the church was the perfect setting.  Rachael was the happiest bride and I don’t think I took a single photo all day where she wasn’t smiling!  The newly married couple made their way out of the church for a moment alone while we organised everybody for the much anticipated confetti shot...I knew from chatting at their engagement session that both Rachael and John were looking forward to this.  Thanks to the wonderful bridesmaids, it went smoothly and we nailed it! Rachael and John enjoyed drinks in the marquee with their friends and family before some group photographs and their couple portraits, which we got through really quickly thanks to the rain!  They had very kindly arranged for me to sit amongst the guests for dinner so after some brilliant speeches we tucked into one of the best wedding meals I’ve ever had.  I left them shortly after their first dance in the capable hands of their fantastic wedding band, Bleeker, ready to dance the night away.

Jane is such a talent. She photographed our wedding earlier this month and based on our preview shots alone, I have been inundated with compliments about her work. Jane is so lovely and captured our day with discretion which was something that was important to us.

I would absolutely recommend Jane to family and friends for their photography needs. I hope I have a reason to book with Jane again!

Jane, I can’t thank you enough. I am thrilled!

The Banks Family | Family Lifestyle Shoot | Scottish Family Photography

Although I am based in Bedfordshire, I can often be found visiting family in Scotland and Wales and I am always happy to take bookings while I'm there. My most recent trip up north included a  relaxed shoot for this family at their beautiful home near Dundee.

At home sessions are quickly becoming my favourite kind of shoots to do; spending time with families in the comfort of their own home and capturing the magic in the little things they do together everyday.  Everything changes so fast, children grow in the blink of an eye and the things you do together one day have changed to something else the next - I love being able to record lasting memories of these moments that might otherwise be forgotten as we move on to the next age and stage.

Here are a few of my favourites from this session...

The Robehmed Family | Family Shoot at Campton Woods | Bedfordshire Family Photography

Autumn is pretty much my favourite time of year for family shoots.  I love summer; the lavender fields in bloom, sunshine, hazy days and sunsets in cornfields.  And of course I love spring with its daffodils and bluebells and blossom and that magical feeling of the sun warming us up again after a long winter.  Even winter is beautiful, especially when there is snow or frost and I love the colours that everybody's winter hats and scarves bring to a shoot.   But for me, Autumn is really the best.  The light is beautiful, the colours are amazing, its not too cold and everywhere just looks perfect!  When I met up with the Robehmed family in mid November, the woods were looking their absolute best.  As we stood under the leaves they were falling gently around us, we could not have asked for a better backdrop!  Here are a few of my favourites from their session.

Owain | Newborn Lifestyle Shoot | Edinburgh Newborn Photography

I arrived at Jan and James' house at lunchtime on the 2nd August, when baby Owain was around a week old.  His arrival was perfectly timed, especially given my plans to arrive in Edinburgh only two days previously.  Jan and I have been best friends since we met at Primary school and James and my husband are cousins so this was a very special shoot indeed and I was delighted I was able to be there to do it and most importantly, meet Owain!  I have so many favourites from our afternoon together which also included lunch, tea, cake and rather a lot of baby cuddles!

Laura + Lee | The Cricketers, Weston | Hertfordshire Wedding Photography

Laura and Lee were married back on the 20th May this year at The Cricketers, in Weston.  The pavilion restaurant of this cosy country pub had been transformed beautifully; with jars of flowers by Blooms of Baldock filling every surface and bunting and twinkling fairy lights overhead it was the perfect romantic setting.  The ceremony itself was personal and emotional and as packets of Kleenex were being found and shared around I learned an important lesson about being a wedding photographer - always keep the tissues handy! After the ceremony everyone headed outside for drinks and congratulations while the children had fun in The Play Den.  Everybody gathered in the small marquee before dinner to listen to the speeches and some live music by a friend of the couple (who also sang Laura down the aisle) which was another lovely and personal touch.  The sun shone all afternoon, waiting until everybody was seated for food before disappearing as the clouds rolled in and the rain arrived when it didn't matter anymore.  The rain fell softly outside as Laura and Lee took to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife, where they were shortly joined by their closest family and friends.  A perfect end to a perfect day!
